Jane Austen’s House collection
In early spring 2026 we were invited to visit Jane Austen’s House, the Hampshire cottage where Jane Austen lived for the final eight years of her life. Formally opened as a museum in 1949, Jane Austen’s House is where the author wrote Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion – it is “…one of the most important literary sites in the world.”
The museum holds many Jane Austen objects, including her tiny writing table pictured below.
Whilst there we also had a tour of the House’s beautiful cottage garden with the Head Gardener talking us through the plants known in Jane Austen’s time.
Inspired by our visit, researching Jane Austen’s letters, and working with the Jane Austen’s House team, we have designed a new Jane Austen's House collection. The collection, which features quotes by Jane Austen, includes greetings cards, tea towels, leaf quotes and wall art.
The cards and tea towels, entitled Spring, Summer and Autumn, all feature quotes from Jane Austen’s letters to her sister Cassandra, describing their garden throughout the seasons. We have combined these quotes with artwork from works of Jane Austen’s era, including A Curious Herbal by Elizabeth Blackwell.
